Coltrane is (IMO) he greatest to sax player there is. Wish I could've seen
him in person. He set a standard so
high, its still not matched.

Listen also to the John Coltrane & Kenny Burrell sessions from that time if you're interested.

@keybobrob I wished that I could play "his mistakes".

I love Trane, but I gotta say, I dig the 60's stuff

It's like the few recordings by Charlie Parker on tenor!

OMG!!! Trane on an alto?! Wow...as I heard it I thought hmmm...that sounds like John, but he doesn't play Alto...then I saw the text! Nice! I'm gonna find out what album it's on now :P

@drjazz86 I agree with Twawin quote... but tell that to HendrixClaptonSRV. I spoke of a "better choice" of words...not whether or not the word is "almost right" or wrong. My posted comment is within the context of my disagreement with him. Peace.

It's all good.but it still is a fact that the man said literally that Trane was making "slight MISTAKES AND trying to get his sound together.." But i understand what you are saying. The problem is what you are saying is a bit more euphemistically put. He used the word MISTAKE...i didnt make it up (00:43). My point is we should all be more careful how we articulate ourselves...our choice of words can make a big difference "spirit" behind the message. Perhaps "challenges" is better choice of word.
Those statues always look horrible.. But the one of Bird in Kansas City is 10 times worse

There's a statue of Louis Armstrong in a park in Nice, France that's actually pretty good. It's the same park where they have the annual Parade de Jazz. Very cool place.
