I first saw Eileen Dunne at La Scala, Milan in the role of La Traviata. Her presence stunned me... but when she opened her mouth even the sour old Italian 'claque' had to shout their aproval. And THEY DID, oh yes, THEY DID. Beneath the make-up Eileen blushed. I remember cheering. Two years later at the Sidney Opera house I was stunned to see her decline. I can't believe she took uo newscasting. How did that happen? Who gave her a break. Well done Eileen! Hooray for Opera!
