  • heyerstandards I Love this song all though this tune is unfamilar. I noticed you used the KJV scripture quotes. It is nice to see that for a change I prefer the KJV over the NIV

  • @zeb1912 It's my understanding that the NIV will undergo some revisions next year which will likely require WELS to no longer use that version. I'd heard NASB was a possible substitute, but we'll wait for synod to further study the matter.

Personally I appreciate the KJV, largely because of the Textus Receptus basis and the Westcott and Hort controversies. My Baptist friends ("auth. KJV-only") just frown at NIV.

I'm glad to hear you are committed to your studies, and I bid you Godspeed.

  • @heyerstandards where you hear that?

  • @avalleskey If you Google "wels.net NIV" you'll get to a few articles. The publishers of NIV have already changed the online version, so any reading online at their online Bible site should be guarded.

  • The WELS has endorsed such liberal and non-Scriptural ideas as gender-neutral language and the Westcott/Hort hypothesis about the New Testament Text. Indeed, when it comes to gender-neutral language, WELS is one of the more liberal churches anywhere in the U.S. WELS endorses gender-neutral language so as "not to make women feel excluded", yet at the same time does not allow women's suffrage in its churches. The irony seems lost on the WELS. No wonder its membership is nosediving.
