MY TOP 5 FAV SONGS EVER,,,JANET DEANE aka JANET VOGEL ,Janet Vogel-Rapp of "The Skyliners" died at 37 on February 21, 1980 in her garage under her home from Carbon Monoxide poisoning. It was an apparent suicide. Her high notes in "Since I Don't Have You" are priceless. Janet was such a wonderful vocalist who could do so much more that hit high notes on a fade out in a song. Check out her lead vocals on the Lp's "The Skliners" (1959), "Once Upon A Time" (1972) and "The Skyliners" (1978, not same Lp as 1959 Lp).

Yet, no matter how difficult the subject, Gavin Rapp has long felt compelled to make a movie based on memories of his mother, Janet Vogel Rapp, a member of the platinum-selling 1950s doowop group The Skyliners, who killed herself after struggling for years with manic depression. He was 13 when his mother died. She was 37.

"When I turned the same age that my mother was when she died, I really thought about everything I do in my life now," Rapp said.

It is really sad. I wonder what was wrong to cause her to take her own life. Strangely Danny Rapp,, who was the Lead Singer of Danny & The Juniors also committed suicide. I've often wondered if he and Janet were relatied.

I'd like to know why in the HELL this group isn't in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Something is seriously wrong. The Skyliner were the most unique sounding group. No one but no one could come close.For them to not be in the Hall of Fame is a true crime.
