"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Does this apply to gays and lesbians? It seems to me that marriage would be covered under those unalienable rights. "Defense of marriage" laws now are no different or less hateful than anti-miscegenation laws a generation ago.

  • I'm up in Canada where we have gay marriage, and it really just seems like a natural advancement in human civil rights. rational thought and human rights will eventually push bronze age traditions and religions out the door, but it will take a while, especially in the south.

  • @UndergroundCar2nist ...slightly on the rich to make up for the lost revenue, BUT only slightly, AND will cut down on wasteful spending, not the nig programs, but the thousands of useless programs the government has set up throught both Democratic and Republican administrations.

  • @ma7799 Possibly because it is a civil matter, these are CITIZENS of the United States who have earned the right to marry just like anyone else. It is a civil rights matter. It is right. It is discrimination. Just like the Civil Rights Movement in the past generation people who know nothing but hate like you blindly fight a losing battle. Other countries look down on us for not already having Gay Marriage, people who have less rights given to us in the BoR are allowed to marry the same sex...

  • 257 people (who dislike) are going to look back at this in give or take 30 to 50 years and see how wrong they really were. Also I hope that people who hate gays have themselves gay children. So for the first 15 or so years they love them unconditionally, until their kid comes out to them and they realize that love is still there but turned upside-down.   • Thank you so much for making this video. I also straight and always asked why I'm so against things like Prop 8 sense they don't apply to me, and I usually end up saying "Why not? I'm not generally keen on supporting the stripping away of other people's rights. Why should I start now?"

    It seems to barbaric that so many people support Prop 8; especially because such a large percentage of them(in my experience) have been so misinformed about what exactly they're voting for.
