Over Easter my brother and I went to visit Kinglake and I was amazed at firstly the impact of how the "forest" looks now, but was pleased to see all the regrowth. Gotta love Bracken Ferns :-). When we got into the township we couldn't move with all the visitors. Still not forgetting you all. Hugs and huge thanks

it depends on alot of things, mostly the nature of the fire, the way it approached the houses, and the list goes on. in a big firestorm like that there's not much that can be done, some brick houses went, some houses that were well prepared also went, other houses that were unoccupied weatherboard survived.

"Why the two in the middle?" (survived)
That's exactly the type of question we should be asking. Sometimes it might have been sheer luck. But one suspects that in many cases it was not.
What happened to the firefighters from the abandoned truck?

They all survived. One had a back injury and was treated in hospital. Not aware of the latest condition.
