A nice Video of the Trench it was featured on Extreme Trains and Modern Marvels in their Freight Trains Episodes the trench saved some time in LA it got the Stacks and Manifest off the Harbor Sub and gave the Harbor Sub to the locals trains run faster in LA instead of waiting in a 12 hour traffic jam as it was in the past.

It runs down Alameda St from the railyard area just southeast of downtown Los Angeles (25th/Alameda) to the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. It replaced a maze of surface mainlines between that area and the ports, significantly improving speed, throughput and security of the railroads' port accesses. You can easily trace it using Google Maps aerial images..

Great video, I’ve heard of the trench for many years and I know I’ve had to have driven over it but still don’t know exactly where it is. I’m going to have to get a map and make a special trip to LA to look for it.

I usually hate music added to train vids, but his vid was awesome!!! I totally enjoyed it.

Brilliant! A great set of shots, both at the lead engine, and the cool shot from below. The music really adds to the mood, very nice work
