I miss old-school anime!!
-
That English subtitle was funny, "side-kick wave," "side-kick sword," etc.. It's supposed to be "Psycic Wave," "pyscic sword."
-
Dat side kick wave! Damn !!!
-
It aint Sidekck ,PSYCHE

@TekkaSage There's nothing realistic about Dangaioh to begin with.

The start of the Psychic Wave sequence is just too bad-ass...especially at 5:33 where a shock push happens...you can hear the thump - now imagine that on an 1000W Bose system...hehe

@Duothimir And there's also the alternate explanation: It's a super robot, which is inherently impractical and unrealistic, made by advanced aliens, which means 'nya nya we don't have to play by your human rules', in an anime, which is a fantasy work. MST3K Mantra, my friend: 'Repeat to yourself "it's just a show; I should really just relax".'

@TekkaSage On the other hand, it allows for the parts to be transported to the battlefield separately and under their own power, and assembled quickly on location. Also, if they are individually capable of combat, they aren't as crippled as a non-combiner would be if, say, the main body is taken out. And if they connect their power sources in some manner, then that's a larger pool of energy to draw from, allowing for longer operation time. All in all, an even trade-off, I would say.
it sure does suck to be a civilian in japan
