  • There is no race to music... the notes are black on a page of white. That's the only color there is. This whole argument is LUDICROUS!

  • So incredible, I know she is probably not right for the part, but this is not the show it is a concert and she was Amazing! And is amazing, best Elphaba ever.

  • absolutely gorgeous. Whenever I hear this song I cry.

  • I think she's phenomenal, and it's okay that she's white because she's only singing it in a concert. She's not trying to be Sarah, she's just performing the song. If she was trying to be Sarah in Ragtime, it'd be different. There are some shows that can be pulled off with "color-blind" casting. Ragtime isn't because it has such a huge emphasis on race in the show itself.

  • The stupid black/white argument is especially valid when the musical is written by Jewish authors LOL

  • the song is emotional enough but this is the first time i watched someone actually perform it. where the hell did i leave my tissues!!

  • She sings well but doesn't convey the emotions well enough. Maybe I just prefer some parts a little slower, it seems like they rushed through a little too much.

  • Amanda, just amazing! I heard you sing this song at that competition. You should have one....hands down! Loved you in Anything Goes....great job.

  • @MsOperalover1 She's not portraying a black woman. She's not even portraying Sarah. She's portraying a character of her own. That is new and interesting in its own way.

  • and i just cried. amazing.

  • okay this really is a dumb and pointless argument... coming from a black female in theatre. it needs to just end, she sings great. case closed.

  • well ik it doesnt matter but. There are way less black women potraying white women in shows.
