NHL veteran defenseman and captain Bryan McCabe of the Florida Panthers, formerly of the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, etc. during the pre-game warm-up / practice at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa on February 23, 2011 (Panthers @ Senators 2/23/11). The native of St. Catharines, Ontario was selected 40th overall in the 2nd round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. In the 1997-98 season, McCabe was traded by the New York Islanders to the Vancouver Canucks along with Todd Bertuzzi and a 3rd round draft pick in 1998 to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Trevor Linden, which turned out to be one of many bad trades by Mike Milbury. Vancouver GM Brian Burke pulled a traded that saw McCabe going to Chicago for its 1st round draft pick in 1999 in order to select the Sedin twins. McCabe has also competed for Canada by winning the gold medal at the 1994 and 1995 World Junior Championships and at the 1997 World Championships.
