Wow, the acting is sooo good. This is the later 2-xl model from the 80s. Not as good. 8 track rules.

  • @mbsjrcc06 That toy is called Talk N Play by Playskool.

  • "Who was the first president of the United States" 2XL asks. "Lincoln" the kids respond back. "Wrong you will be vaporized"!!! 2Xl exclaims. five seconds later the kids are never seen again because they were dumb.

  • I have this still working in my house :)

  • @wmidol Exactly! Mom bought me the original version that was produced by Mego Corporation back around 1980. And a little over 10 years later I remember seeing the commercials for this new 2-XL that Tiger Electronics made, and I thought, "That's not 2-XL! The real 2-XL is somewhere in Mom's basement, and he's boxy and brown and he runs on 8-track tapes."

I wonder what we ever did with that old 2-XL. I should call Mom and try to dig him up again.

  • i still have mine, and is still working yeah!

  • this is not from the 80s, it's from probably 1992, that is the year tiger released it.

  • YES!!! I saw something like that at a friends house. I may have some tapes somewhere that I found at a thrift store. those were either stereo or quadraphonic type tapes and the machines were built differently in the audio department...like say "Quadraphonic' mized for 'fold down' stereo through one speaker.

  • I used to have "Sesame Street" tapes similar to the "Inspector Gadget" tapes you described in your comment. I don't remember if I ever played the "Sesame Street" tapes in a regular tape player, but on the 2-XL 2-sided audio cassettes I had, you heard one thing at once on either side. If you played the tape on the side with the ID sticker, it would play forwards, but if you played the tape on the side that said "WRONG SIDE" on it, the audio from the "correct" side would play in reverse.

  • not sure about the 2 sided audio cassettes, but there was a toy with tape that had things like "Inspector gadget" in which you followed instructions, like "push the green button" if you played back these tapes on a regular stereo or mono tape player, you would hear 4 things at once. either 'quadraphonic' or a '4 track' "fold down" for there product.

  • The one on the commercial here is the newer one with the 2-sided audio cassettes.
