I recorded this video along with others on 22-Jul-07 during another night of insomnia. In this video, I perform my original instrumental guitar composition "Spirits of the Sea".


ABOUT THE TECHNIQUES
--------------------------------------------------------------
The guitar tuning for this song is DADF#AD and I apply advanced fingerstyle techniques such as two-hand tapping, contrapuntals, various harmonics, among others. The effects I use for the guitar are EQ, chorus and a touch of reverb recorded in stereo.


ABOUT THE COMPOSITION

I composed this tune April 2006 around Earth Day (22-Apr). My inspiration came from the wonders and mysteries of life under the sea. I was fortunate to live my young adult life in a beach resort area in Venezuela, South America, right on the Caribbean coast. I went snorkeling several times exploring majestic coral reefs and seeing underwater flora and fauna in their natural habitat.

"God said, "Let the waters be filled with living things... So God created the great creatures of the ocean. He created every living and moving thing that fills the waters. He created all kinds of them..."

God's creation of Earth and its environs is so glorious. There are so many life forms and mysteries beneath the seas that we have yet to discover. It's like an alien planet existing beneath our oceans which needs our protection from unscrupulous fellow humans.

As you listen to this song, imagine yourself wondering through the ocean depths as you experience the different sights, sounds and abundant, strange and beautiful sea life surrounding you... as you meet the spirits of the sea.


ABOUT THE VIDEO

In addition to my performance, you will see in the video actual photos of sea life and hear real sounds of the ocean. Just before my performance are real recordings and an image of humpback whales. After my performance at the end of the video, you will hear very mysterious and eerie unidentified sounds recorded by scientists exploring the seas as you watch a slideshow of cool underwater life.
