How would you respond to those that claim that the Torah is nothing but a couple of heathen laws from ancient Mesopotamia and that it has no authenticity at all. And that in fact Abraham, Moshe and the Israelites just created a religion with all kinds of elements from religions in Egypt (Nile and Pharaoh worship) and Mesopotamia (sacrifice system, stories of how the world came into existence). The only authentic element could be: Monotheism.

Its seems true to me that the Tanach has been going through some editorial changes when its canon was formed in the Babylonian exile. So how can we know that the Bible really (as Christians would say) is inspired. M’Lakhim Alef and M’Lakhim Bet are very different from Divrei-Hayamim Alef and Divrei-Hayamim Bet (similar situation as with the gospels). So what is the evidence that it is from God.

The masoretic text (oldest Hebrew known text) dates from 1000 A.D. The Septuagint goes back to 200-300 B.C. Of course the Qumran scrolls confirm the Masoretic texts. But how do we know these documents give reliable stories about Moshe, David and other historical people and events? Because Muslims claim to have a Quran that is preserved and a Sunah (in the Ahadith) with a closed chain of transmission they make the claim that Islam should be seen as the most reliable religion for mankind.

@freespeechisgood I did read the Quran from cover to cover. It is you who claim, and it is you who has to show the verses that support your claim.
-
@TomiTom1234 If you delve deep enough you will realise that they were my friend.
-
@freespeechisgood Well the WW1 and 2 weren't based on religion, get your facts correctly.
-
@freespeechisgood Buddy, show me where does it say in Quran that jews are of apes and pigs, then I will leave Islam immediately. In fact, Quran says that Children of Israel (jews) are chosen people. And they are children of Israel, Israel is Jakub and he is one of Allah's prophets that any muslim should believe in. If I don't believe in Israel as a prophet of God, I am not even a believer anymore according to Islam.
-
@TomiTom1234 I know an error in the Koran....jews are of apes and pigs....not scientifically possible. They might have big noses but they are not pigs.....I am a scottish catholic come non religious person.....I hate religion and religions that perpetuate hatred.
-
Ban all religious books = world peace.........end of!

why not zoidberg?
..I have seen one fo your videos...where the comments were actually disabled... I just wanted to say.. I am Muslim... I think you have great logic..and great passion.. when we say ..that the prophets were muslims... we only mean that ..they submit to Allah... they believe in one. we don't precisly say that they do our Shari'.... however, they all prayed they all fasted... basically they did what muslims do in our day... with little difference...

@alightprincess In that case Torah observant Jews should also be regarded as Muslims. I think it unreasonable to consider us as though we reject a prophet simply because we are unconvinced that a particular individual is a prophet. There is a difference between being unconvinced of something and rejecting something. I believe we can be guilty of rejecting a prophet only after we KNOW someone is a prophet and yet despite our knowledge refuse to heed him.

I don't know about the entire Bible, but regarding the Torah - the answer is yes, they have.
Jews do not view the ENTIRE Bible with the same regard Muslims view the Qur'an. Jews only regard the Torah with equal or more authority as Muslims view the Qur'an. Jews DO accept the Hebrew Bible, but the Bible is the composed of many different books written by different authors. It is not one book. Only the part of the Bible called the Torah is regarded as eternal divine Law.

@khalilrabee
We have the Hebrew Bible, which Christians claim they also accept. Christians intend to accept the Hebrew Bible, which they called the 'Old Testament,' but the truth is that they misunderstand the Hebrew Bible more than they understand it. Many of the objections Muslims have against the 'Old Testament' are due to Christians faulty representations of the text. Jews rely on the underlying Hebrew text, not translations. It is entirely in old Hebrew. A few places r in Aramaic.
