An amazing true story of the "Around the World" car race from NY to Paris with German, Italian, French and American teams. All, at a time when horses were considered more reliable than the automobile. After covering 22,000 miles in 169 days the American Team wins! This video gives a real sense of the incredible adventure, and making of the documentary "The Greatest Auto Race on Earth".
In the 100 years since, this feat has never been attempted. Plans are also underway to retrace the original competition with a new Great Race in 2008. For additional information & photos check out: www.TheGreatAutoRace.com
I saw the original Thomas Flier after it was rediscovered and displayed in the Long Island Automotive Museum in 1961. It was in original condition, still had mud on the body. Really impressive to me. Thank you for showing this video.
