  • ...........well that sucks........

  • @ruleta74835 amazingly enough, i only had that trash driven into the flooring, i lost 2 windows, and a bunch of planks on the deck, and of course some shingles. the biggest problem was the fact we added a 2 foot hill and then a concrete flat-top, the hill gave the water purchase and it ate away the ground underneath the slab. almost 6 foot in the center. had to have concrete pumped under it.. it raised the property 2 foot. from the deposit of silt.

  • @carpetmonk

Wow... Were you able to make the needed repairs to your place?

  • @ruleta74835 infact, the only reason my cabin wasnt demolished, was that a cabin had burned in the 50's in the lot in front of ours, beachside. all that was left were the pylons and 50 years of brush growth. it made a breakwater and debris fence. had a utility room on ground floor where i kept a golfcart and riding mower, and i put the walls in with tiny tiny nails, so it would blow away easy.. which it did. i only found 1 of carts batteries, i guess the frame sank in the intracoastal canal,

  • @ruleta74835 it was impressive, we sold our cabin, it was across the street from the gulf coast market, mid crystal beach. we were 8 foot above sea level, we added 2 foot of dirt, and then put pylons in 9 foot deep, (meaning the pylons were 9 foot above ground as well).. 19 foot above sea level, and i had debris literally driven into the bottom of the cabin, so the waves and trash floating made it to 19 feet high. 75% of "pearl" beach homes were missing.

  • @carpetmonk - Thank you for the reply. I didn't know that's how thing played out.

  • @ruleta74835 it was evacuated.. one thing the authority do accomplish is evacuation order. especially on the coast.. there were alot of drifters and hobos on bolivar, alot of the 50 registered deaths, tried to escape at the last second by driving through high island, (the ferry was battened down) unfortunantly thats where it was worst (gilchrist) all thier cars were rolled in a mass into the pasture, not 200 yards from safety.. close enough to see safety, but not survive.

  • What a way to lose an amusement park. And it looked like a pretty large one.

  • @YouEminent _ I still don't understand how the official death toll is at a number like 50 when the enitre Bolivar Peninsula was scoured like that. I wasn't under the impression that the island was completely evacuated.

  • So, I take it that less than 50 people lived on Crystal Beach since the official death toll is still at 50 when you know more than 50 people died on Crystal Beach alone.
