Never mind our questionable foot skills. The classic Moog Taurus is amazing! Duh. We ran it into the Moogerfooger MF-101 Low Pass Filter, and the MP-201 is controlling the filter cutoff.

  • is this a synth on it's own, or do you plug a bass guitar into it?

  • The Moog Taurus is a bass synth on its own. You trigger it with the bass pedals which are attached to it. The second generation Taurus II had separate electronics and pedals.

  • I completely agree with you

it's the same story with TB-303s selling for £1000

it baffles me when you can buy far more capable synths for that kind of money

I just spent about 10 minutes on my Moog Little Phatty recreating the Taurus bass in 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' by The Police and I got it pretty much spot on

but to those who absolutely MUST HAVE the Taurus sound, Moog have just announced that they will be reissuing the pedals limited to a 1000 units production run

  • I will eat a plate of shit in Hell before I pay that kind of price. MOOG are assholes with their pricing. I don't deny Bob's legacy and how great their stuff sounds but jeez they are greedy.

I am 100% happy using a MicroKorg and a Fatar Midi bass pedal. Paid less than $700 total for both.

I will require a record contract before I can buy MOOG.

  • that sounds like he is controlling the LFO with the expression pedal, not the filter cutoff.

  • is that mp-201 compatible with other rack MIDI devices???

  • Hey SixString, You don't need to take them out of their flightcases, just give them all to me!

  • This is SICK!

  • I've got sets of tarus pedals as I was in a Genisis type band in the 70's and I'm getting ready to pull them out of thier flight cases and use them. They have a really cool glide setting( good for 1 use per song) and really adds to the bottom end like in Squonk. Great toy!

  • The Minimoog cost $1495 when it was introduced - the equivalent of about $7000 today.

  • If you think Moog is greedy, check out E-Bay where the vintage ones go for $3000-5000USD in decent condition, and beat to hell Taurus pedals go for a couple grand!

  • Moog is making a new Taurus! can't wait

  • The new ones will be $1695 with a $500 down payment until Feb. 15, 2009. After that, the price jumps to $1995. Plus, you get MIDI, digital presets, and the original sound engine.
