Disinformation "The Origin of Painting" 5

"The Origin of Painting" by Disinformation at Saltburn Artists Projects, Teeside, Jan to March 2007. This footage was shot at the exhibition preview on 19 Jan 2007. The Disinformation exhibition was curated by Lauren Healey, and generously funded by The Arts Council North East, thanks also to Melting Pot Arts. "The Origin of Painting" has been repeatedly proposed to The Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle, to DCA Dundee and to the AV Festival, who have since or are about to exhibit an almost identical work by UK resident Torsten Lauschmann. Disinformation's work contains several elements not reproduced in Torsten's work, but Torsten's work contains nothing not previously exhibited as part of the earlier work, except for his title - "Scientist Please Paint Me" - which is new.

This Disinformation exhibition at Saltburn also featured the "Blackout" video by Barry Hale - including footage of WW1 Sound Mirrors on Teeside, "The Analysis of Beauty", "Spellbound", "Audio Rorschach" research materials, and the new Disinformation experimental painting exhibit "Fire in the Eye" (which was first made in 2004 and first exhibited at Wrexham Arts Centre in 2006). Since then, "Fire in the Eye" has also been exhibited at Study Gallery in Poole, and a 35mm cinema version of "Fire in the Eye" has been released by Threshold Studios on DVD.
