Swiss voters back minarets ban

Swiss voters have approved a proposal to ban the construction of minarets, after a rightwing campaign that labelled the mosque towers.

Muslims make up about 6% of Switzerland's 7.5 million people, many of them refugees from the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s. The government says, and Swiss mosques do not broadcast the call to prayer outside their buildings.

On Thursday, Geneva's main mosque was vandalised when a pot of pink paint was thrown at the entrance. Earlier this month a vehicle with a loudspeaker drove through the area imitating a muezzin's call to prayer, and vandals damaged a mosaic when they threw cobblestones at the building.

do tou wanna see a christian, church in you muslim country? Right neither do we! I think were really paitient instead, in muslims countries our churches would be burned down en we would be burned alive or get the peloton or so....

Propose of minaret is when praying time comes imam goes up there chants the ezan like ( yelling,screaming) This way whole village knows the time of pray. Hundreds of years ago this was OK in Muslim countries. Today they still need in many cities and villages in those primitive Muslim countries. But in Swiss? or any other European countries? Do they need this???

is switzreland lost the Human Rights? switzreland vote violated freedom of religion ? switzreland lotst the value of the name? switzreland is like 2 wer wolud coutreis? all th countires have freedom of religion why not in swtizreland ?

It will be overturned in court.Its a breach of European Convention on Human Rights.Also undermines Swiss liberal,secular image.There are many Christian churches throughout the Muslim world.Many times one does see lies often repeated on the blogsphere by anti-Islam bigots.There are churches in Algeria,Bahrain,Bangladesh,Egy­pt, Indonesia,Iran,Iraq,Jordan,Kuw­ait,Libya,Morroco,Pakistan,Syr­ia,Turkey,UAE to name a few.

Keep it consistant & ban church bells as well Switzerland,shame,shame,shame
