i really hope this give you an idea on fixing you 404 file not found error

hers the address for your apache

LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

  • thanks so much!i was on the verge of giving up this being the 2nd reading material as what can it be, the apache was rewriting the link but still not working so was not about mod_rewrite not doing the job, this saved many hours of my life!thanks!blessings

    Now does this only work if you're using Wamp or Xampp as well, because I have Xampp and it keeps happening.

  • hi i know you posted this a long time ago but wondered if you could maby help me cause i am about at the end too!!!! all the pages work eg. activity, members and so on but when i let any1 sign up to my buddy press they click sign up and get the same 404 error please help. thanx for your time lewis.

  • Thanks, worked like a charm. To think, I could of been using buddypress this entire time (few years) if I didnt stumble from this easily solvable issue. 

  • Ok, I can not find Apache? I go to the FIle Manager and I find nothing on the public_html folder. I am new to this but have been searching for the fix to this exact problem. Any help is appreciated. Also my hosting co, uses simplescripts to install buddypress, so I had no MySQL or anything and have no knowledge of wordpress, buddypress or such. Thanks for any adovce
