'Known more for his bowed guitars, luthier Jonathan Wilson demonstrates his "guitar side". The "Dreaded Bastarda takes it's name from the Bastarda GuitarViol pattern combined with otherwise Dreadnought size and bracing. It is 25.5" Scale, X braced, and fully guitar (though traditional icons be damned....all in fun, of course). This instrument was created for Jonathan's personal use (though these could be made available :)

  • @BAK87 Thanks. This one is my personal prototype and the finish is a simple satin gel coat. I have thought of other antique French Polishes - it is all doable. Actually, there is a hidden hole under fingerboard but it is for the fingerboard support beam to pass through (as it does go to 24 frets). I suppose some sort of ornamental lute hole could be put between X brace and fingerboard. I since installed a Baggs I-Beam in it and have had some fun with my Jam Man looper ;-).

  • Hey Jonathan. Fantastic looking guitar. I love the shape & headstock and 24 frets, as it is somewhat different from "classic" guitars.

Would put translucent cherry finish on it and a baroque sound-hole/rosette somewhere above 18th fret. Nom nom nom :P

What kind of finish did you apply? Do you intend to wire it with piezo or mic?

    Cheers.
