@poussecafe3 water pressure crashed the windows of the rooms. First class rooms had larger windows and some of them exposed to the decks, so actually I think Cameron did right.

@acquamarine28 In a deleted scene it was revealed that Astor was looking for his dog and that's why he was in the grand staircase but yes the real J.J Astor was found with his body partly crushed and soot stained and the only way they identified his body was by the $2.500 dollars in his wallet and a ring on his finger
