Seattle Police Misconduct

On March 11, 2010, Miguel and Hugo were about to return to Yakima, Washington, when they were stopped and detained by four Seattle Police Officers. Both were subjected to profanity, threats, taunting, intimidation and wrongful detention. Miguel was booked in jail on a simple misdemeanor charge of Negligent Driving, which was ultimately dismissed for "proof issues" after his attorney brought the video to the City Attorney's attention. An internal investigation began wherein officers claimed they were only using profanity to "de-escalate the situation with known gang bangers." Three of the four officers were suspended for less than 3 weeks each for "profanity." The video here was only obtained after multiple denials from the police department and months of delay. "It is illegal for you to not to exactly as we say when we say it" pretty much summarizes why police in America are seen as little more then jack booted thugs and why the general populations respect for them has been consistently dropping year after year.

Are police so thin skinned that they can't handle some harsh words without having to haul a person to jail? Using state authority because someone hurt your feelings is a misuse of that authority plain and simple.

u fkn serious!.These r supposed to b officers of the law..they set an example for society. then u wonder why ppl start hating the police. it was harrassment frm the very start when they were at the window & the cops started cussing at them! no reason to b fkn rude, harsh &hurt them. it would have been different if the guys were not cooperating. these copa demand respect!!. The only thing I see wrong is the officer's constant swearing. It makes them look unprofessional. Other than that nothing wrong.

Big surprise, you cuss at the cops and they are ass holes in return. I like that they told those guys to go back to Yakima!

If the police try to stop you, pull over and keep your mouth shut. You'll find out that the Seattle police aren't that bad. (and if you aren't wasted or wanted they'll probably let you off)

I do not think it is appropriate to share this content on youtube, Mr. Egan. In my opinion, you are attempting to sway public opinion in favor of your clients and that is manipulative and biased behavior. That being said, I am uncomfortable with the threats of violence towards the two men. I do believe they are criminals and gang members, but the SPD should talk with them in a more courteous manner. Their lifestyle will catch up to them eventually, but not during a speeding citation.

The officers were supsended for "profanity?" Ridiculous. This video shows that these guys weren't saints. If this is abuse....wow...maybe the police department should visit countries where real abuse occurs! Somehow, I doubt this profanity traumatized these guys.
