Harlon Block, Mike Strank, and Franklin Sousley would later be KIA (killed in action) and John "Doc" Bradley would be injured.

Rene Gagnon would later Get married, and spend the rest of his life as a janitor.

Ira Hayes would later go back to working on his Reservation, and die shortly after wars end.

John "Doc" Bradley would later in life get married and buy the Funeral Home at which he worked at after returning home. His son wrote the book Flags of our Fathers, which was later made into a movie.
