well randy barnes was definatly the best of his time but reese hoffa is the best of today, hes my hero!

@sneakytanderson Gill has truly defied the odds, everyone thought he wouldn't be able to handle the 7.26kg at the kind of velcotiy he spins with, but he proved us all wrong.

@TheBruiser012 He's almost hit 20 now, if not more, and has a real chance of qualifying for 2012 in london if he keeps on improving. By 2016 he'll be hitting the record if not surpassing it.

@yt29668 yes I'm full aware of that, but Hohn set the record at the same time that Timmermann and Schult were on top (the 80's) and this is when the GDR had a VERy bad steroid rep.

@TheBruiser012 Uwe Hohn used the old style of javelin, which had more weight towards the back of the javelin so that it would go further. Since then the weight has been moved forward about 4cm so that it doesnt go so far. As you can see from the video of Hohn's record, it only just landed on the grass. By the way, that world record by Hohn is no longer the world record, the new one is 98.48m by Jan Zelezny.

Barnes has the world best spin tehcnique and the only person who seems to have anothet truly brilliant one ois New Zealander, 15 year old Jacko Gill. I wouldn't be surprised if Gill breaks Barne's record as he gets older, he's already hitting 18m+ with the 7.26kg
Think about it, Steroids can slightly help recovery (seeing as all he took were drugs to improve agression a bit) but he still had to TRAIN HARD.

@ScrippsRanchDC LMAO, your gonna tell me that Ulf Timmermann, Jurgen Schult and Uwe Hohn weren't doping when they set records which haven't been beat for 20 years, even with improved technology and coaching?
