Our christmas light display for 2009: "Christmas Eve Sarajevo" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

The display is fully computer controlled and synchronized to music. We have over 100,000 lights, on 384 individually controllable channels. All the music synchronization is done by hand, and it takes about 10 hours per minute of music -- so this song took about 30 hours to do!

The music is played on speakers for viewers, but also broadcast over low-power FM (on 91.7 FM) so people can tune their car radios to it.

This year, we're raising money for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation, who work wonders for sick children. If you'd like to make a donation, we've put a collection box out the front of our display for anyone that's enjoyed the show.

Thanks for watching. If you're in Brisbane and want to come see the show, you can find us on Childs Street, in Rochedale South - feel free to pop in and say Hi!

  • Do u have any 2010 videos and are u doing this year again

  • @toddluv1 -- I didn't make any changes in 2010, so the videos are exactly the same as these 2009 videos. However, I'm doing it again this year, and I'm planning big changes -- if I can get it organized in time, it should be a huge show! (I've only got 4 months left, and I've already been planning and preparing for the last 6 months!)

  • Hi sallz0r, did you use Light-O-Rama Hardware and Software for your light display? Any suggestions?

  • @radarman2 -- nope, it was all custom-built hardware, I designed it myself. I'm using the Vixen Lights software to plan and run the shows, however.

  • Very cool, what sort of hardware was required to control all those lights? A lot of relays and microcontrollers i assume?

  • @ChoiLive - all custom-built controller boards, basically a micro controlling a bunch of triacs, one for each channel. About 30 boards, and almost 400 channels all up, I think. :-)

  • You are a god among men.

  • I saw this song on this years display. It was my favourite one :) Fantastic job, completely made my christmas that much better. All the effort and planning this must take. It's epic, congratulations and thankyou so much.

  • Respond to this video...

Hoping, I could make my own for next year ^_^

  • @sallz0r -- Thank you so much sallz0r for the help. I hope I could do my own hardware here in the Philippines. I'll just read the DIYs, create my own designed PCBs and play with the software. More power to you!
