Yes indeed incredible performance from an incredible performer. The girl sat Celie on the edge of the stage that night and Fantasia ended the song. Goose bumps for me all the way! lol

I don't think anyone should bash you for not wanting to see it with Fantasia. But I can honestly tell you that without her you won't truly "experience" the Color purple. I have seen the paly several times and Fantasia simply taps into your most raw, viseral emotions. It's not just African americans either. I've seen older white women and middle age men unable to contain themselves. It's as if she allows you to touch the divinity within us all. Simply put she CONNECTS. Blessings

U ever seen her in the role?Shes a great actress.Critics agree.This nite liberty was taken w/the song.Was her last nite &whole cast was emotional.Many stepped out of character & wasnt a norm for them.She added new depth.If u truly believe the only reason she was chosen was her voice,I have some oceanfront property in Idaho to sell u.(borrowed from TI).They didn't want her to go & now courting her for the touring production.When she joins again I hope ull go & reassess what uve written.Peace

I'm a performer too and I understand that. I actually want to see Fantasia but the show losing its efficacy when people are yelling and screaming.

i understand what u mean tyses! but believe me when i say this!..this musical is sooo powerful when ms celie sings this song there are just soo many emotions going on through you! i saw this with my mama! and i was crying when fantasia sang this song! lol i couldnt help it! its sooo powerful! and the audience was crying and screaming! ppl were jumping and everything! lol it was more like church than a concert! lol

But still in a since people can be excited but at the END OF THE SONG.. NOT DURING EVERY PAUSE!!!!! THAT REALLY GETS ANNOYING WHEN YOU CAN NOT FINISH THE SONG THE WAY YOU WANT TO!!!! SCREAM SHOUT!!! I understand when she gets to "I'm Beautiful" and "I'm Here" But wait until the end of the SONG!!!!

But still the way she connects with the CELIE IS ASTONISHING

1. She has a beautiful voice

2.Good acting.

That is why everybody gets excited

You are kinda right in a sense of theater ettiqute. But if you pay money for something high class you expect it to be high class. BUT SHE IS FANTASIA!!!

LOL :) and that is so funny!!! I am an actor too, and for the fact that people are screaming to see me and selling out my shows I'm gonna put on a SHOW! So when they leave they can see WOW Fantasia put some work into this!!But then again your opinion is your opinion..:)
