This a video of me making leather artwork. Here I am carving a leather book marker which looks like a wooden coffin.

The finished, signed, piece depicted in this video has been sold but I can make others like it, to order, in many different color combinations.

Check out my leather artwork video for other samples of my work. youtube.com/watch?v=O4tj6c79q-c

  • where do you buy your leather?

  • @problynevergonnause The best leather is called Herman Oaks. You can find it online and sometimes in the Tandy Shops. When you are just learning, It's best to start with the cheap tandy stuff since yer gonna have a lot of waste.

  • what do your knuckles say? btw great job, your an amazing artist, im looking to get into leather work do you know a good website to use to get leather and leather crafting supplies

  • @disturbedALOT1223 Glad you liked it. The tattoos say "RIDE FREE."

The sites you want to visit are Tandy Leather and Hidecrafters. There are others but those are a good start. Ebay is a good source for tools and scraps as well.

  • Hi Dave:

I enjoyed your video. I am amazed at how well your decorative cuts look like wood. And you don't sound scary at all!

  • @thechurchofdave Good call. I noticed that you link your mp3 download site on your main channel, and it's a bummer that youtube doesn't allow more than one link. I tried the garageband link and it didn't work for me. Since your viewers know you make music, perhaps you can link both your product site and your music site in the description, and put your product site on your channel.

At this point you're probably annoyed with me but I'm ok with that.

    I'll stop pestering anyway :)

  • @P00P0STER0US Almost all of my videos have links to my website in the description box. I stopped adding them the last couple months because 1. it wasn't generating any business and 2. garageband (the place I give out my free mp3s) gave notice that it was going to close.

Since garageband was closing, I have to modify the links on all 130+ videos. So I am waiting until I decide where my mp3s are going before I go back to adding links.

  • @thechurchofdave I'm sure you know your audience though I'd have to note that your site isn't linked in a place that's easy for me to find. Well, not on twitter or youtube anyway or at least not where I went digging. Anyway my point is that regardless of where your audience lives, a link is free. And people like me would be happy to tweet or otherwise whore some current videos that get people interested in the hand-crafted authenticity of your work.

  • @P00P0STER0US Yeah I consider upping the advertising slightly but the leather and furniture stuff really have a very specific audience who respond to it. So, we shall see. Right now I am working on a book of how to create certain kinds of furniture.

  • I'd like to see more whoring from you because you're good with this stuff and you never advertise. Really, people are ok with some advertising. I spend a lot of time on twitter and people are very tolerant of a bit of advertising from people who are real people and don't treat others like numbers. Your work is unique and personal. Surely there's some cafe/restaurant in L.A. that would love to have furniture made the way you do it. Hell, you could make leather nametags for servers.
