A very impressive optical illusion of 3D from this 1914 Shomescope viewer View postcards, tintypes, daguerreotypes, photographs, cabinet cards, etc. It would provide an evening of entertainment back at the turn of the 20th century. It contains a primary mirror with a specially-calculated curvature surface, which provides a very convincing sense of depth. In 2010, I re-introduced this to thousands of people at the New York Hall of Science. Search for the term "Shomescope" (pronounced show-me-scope) for further info. online. (NOTE: **3-D effect NOT captured with a single lens video camera**).

  • Just bought one this week on ebay and can't wait to see mine; in the meantime I've forwarded this link for posting in the online newsletter of The Magic Lantern Society of the United States and Canada.

  • Move over 3D TV, OLED... and no glasses needed to produce 3D

    From 1914.

  • Fantastic!
