Maurice Ravel
Miroirs
III. Une barque sur l'océan
SPEECH TRANSCRIPT
So my next piece is another watery piece. It's called "A Boat on the Ocean," from Mirrors, by Ravel. This is yet another extremely impressionistic piece, in which Ravel succeeds at making the piano sound like, once again, water. This is best experienced with an imagination, so, if you would, it would probably be best if you close your eyes and imagine you're on a boat... well, not THAT boat... a normal boat, not that boat... a normal boat, on the ocean. Now, be warned, that if you feel like falling asleep, or feel seasick, or if you feel like you're about to drown, please open your eyes. Any questions? Please enjoy Ravel's "A Boat on the Ocean."
