Borrowed Tune ~ Neil Young (1975)

One of Neil Young's finest. Young borrowed the melody from the Rolling Stones' tune Lady Jane. Its now Young's tune as he expresses grief (the loss of his friend/roadie Bruce Berry and Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten), combined with his rejection of recent stardom. This tune appeared on Young's album Tonight's The Night.

Neil, as most artists, wears his heart on his sleeve, and for good reason. We all have lost very good friends, and it takes us to a place, alone, where we can only think of the time, and things done together, we will never do with them again.

They are called memories, but they aren't memories to me, if you live every day, with your lost friend in your heart.
