1 well uses 4-5 million gallons of fresh water, that somewhere around 22 trillion to 27.5 trillion gallons of drinking water being contaminated by chemicals known to cause several life threatening conditions. This is just PA alone, and doesn't include the thousands of wells being drilled and fracked around the world. NJ banned fracking, France banned fracking, NY wants to ban fracking for large metropolitan water sheds, now thats hypocritical.

Lastly I have served our nation, faithfully. Can you state the same? I don't believe its my right to claim financial gain from the use of my neighbors or my children s, or grandchildren s clean drinking water. Its my my right to contaminate the ground they will need to produce their food. Its not my right to take benefit from something we all need to share. It is my right to protect it. Claiming this subject is safe is false.

Fourth, I don't drive a humvee, I actually drive a very fuel efficient automobile. Fifth, the amount of Petroleum being saved by the natural gas in the automobile industry is equivalent to a 1 gallon milk jug of water taken from Seneca Lake. The majority of natural gas is going into electrical generation and is only slightly offsetting the coal industry, not the pertro. Electrical generation can be made safer and with less environmental impact using other methods.

@Carolwoodmansee First, your number is way off, in 2010 PA approved 3,500 Wells, adding to the 2,000 they already had. The industry intends to place 3,000 to 5,000 every year. Second, a hypocrite is a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings, I hold true to my feelings and beliefs, so I'm not a hypocrite. Third although I'm not a fan of salt use on the roads, it is currently a necessity for the overall preservation of life and safety.

I don't call being able to see the truth and speaking it fear mongering, its just not being blinded by the flash of green in my pockets any more. Yea I used to be like you and believed the gas well hype machine, then it happened in my back yard where I grew up. The EPA has confirmed those drinking wells were contaminated. So you got to ask what are you going to drink when there isn't any more clean water? What are you going to eat. There won't be anything left clean enough to eat or drink.
You have spoken twice about "the flash of green". Personally, Mr. H, I think you are the person who is green. That is the flash I am seeing. No doubt you missed out. My facts are 100% accurate. You are not only misinformed, you are spreading the fear mongering. So. May I wish you a lifetime of poverty for you and your family, which is what you are wishing on countless numbers of rural citizens, so that you can keep them under your thumb. Why don't you move to communist China?

@NitroNeo Okay Mr. Fearful. There are 300,000 gas wells fracked in PA alone. Do you hear of death and devastation all over PA? Drilling a gas well is a safe procedure. You are the same hypocrite who screams when the roads along the river aren't immediately salted in the winter with dangerous chemicals so you can fill up your Hummer with gas and drive in a snow storm. Our boys are dying in Iraq to protect our oil interests. Why don't you join them, Mr. Fearful Hypocrite?

Take a look at what happened in Leroy, PA... the fracking fluids leaked into the water table when the well blew out. The farmer can't use the land for his livestock or for farming any longer on advisement of the gas company drilling the well. That fracking fluid leaked into the creek, then into the Susquehanna river, and into the local water table. After the fact the gas company is taking water samples from all drinking wells downstream... hmmm

@NitroNeo Searchfor the site regarding the impact of 10,000 gallons of frack fluid dumped into the soil surrounding a gas well. YouTube will not allow a web site to be posted, so I will tell you how to find the site:
Google: GoMarcellusShale View the discussion: Op/Ed: Hydrofracturing Spills Put Into PerspectivePosted by Mike Knapp on June 21, 2011. Please stop the fear mongering. You have committed your mind to brain washing. It is okay to change your thinking.
