Her question at the end of the segment -- "Should we be teaching self defense, or should we be teaching peaceful ways of resolving conflict?" -- is a ridiculous false analogy. Of course we should use peaceful conflict resolution as our first resort whenever possible. Unfortunately, however, if someone is threatening to kill you with a knife or a gun, it's a pretty good bet that that person is not particularly open to peaceful negotiation.

Incapacitating a thug is a very effective way to resolve a conflict. Dear Britons, Larkin is building on the work of Barton and Fairbairn who pioneered this sort of thing in your country. Those of you who hesitate to use violence must remember that your attacker doesn't hesitate, thus he has the advantage and will probably prevail. As it is likely you will continue to be denied the right to carry firearms for your protection, learn to use your bodies as weapons or surrender to the yobs.

You know I think some in our world would have us sit in a padded room.I hate to fight i do not like it at all. we all know this where the hell are the cop when some thug is demanding you money. wheres these jerk that say violance do any good.

Unfortunately peaceful ways of resolving conflict doesn't work wen u hav a full blown Sociopath intent on killing u, who's act wouldn't even play on there conscience!!

In Israel everybody is taught Krav Maga, this is mandatory, as a result of this there are very low levels of people being attcked in the street. Of course i would rather see everybody live in peace but that is not a likely prospect in this day and age and isn't something sadly i can see happening in the near future. I suggest that if you are worried about your safety you should begin training in a martial art or attend a self defense course like the one Tim teaches.

You can never change the fact that if that poor kid had training, he might be alive today. And Tim was right, doing this makes him look bad, but it has to be done. If someone attacks you, you have the right to kill them, you have the right to do anything to make sure they can't hurt you.

The marched in lines while Americans hid in trees and behind logs and we obliterated their asses by "cheating", like the muslims do by using women and children carrying bombs. The dirty fighter wins.
