I wrote this song long ago and recently I finally finished it. Special thanks go to Michael for the great job he did mixing the audio.

I Just Want To Tell You -- Copyright 2011 Stanley A. Wells

I just want to tell you
I think you ought to know
But words just don't come easy this time
Like they did so long ago

I tried to climb up a mountain
You waited in the valley below
Both of us thought that I'd return
For where was there left to go?

I'm not trying to say that I'm sorry
Sorrow's a thing in the past
I'm just trying to say that the horizon I'd been following
Was right beside me in you all the time
It was right beside me in you

Minutes turn into an hour
Hours turn into a year
Then years turn into a lifetime
And the lifetime turns into a tear

The tear rolls into the ocean
A wave washes up on the shore
The sand's slipping through my fingers
Your footprints aren't there anymore

I'm not trying to say that I'm sorry
Sorrow's a thing in the past
I'm just trying to say that the horizon I'd been following
Was right beside me in you all the time
It was right beside me in you

The song is already written
But if I could change just one line
I'd run down to you from that mountain
And maybe you would have been mine

I tried to climb up a mountain
You waited in the valley below
Both of us thought that I'd return
For where was there left to go?

I'm not trying to say that I'm sorry
Sorrow's a thing in the past
I'm just trying to say that the horizon I'd been following
Was right beside me in you all the time
It was right beside me in you I didn't see it
It was right beside me in you

  • Nicely written and I enjoyed the performance Stan. The harmonies of the voices were just as pleasant as the harmonies of the guitars.....great stuff brother...

  • @PatrickGMoran Thank you Pat! My sister's harmony on this always blows me away. I'm glad you liked it bro.

  • Very sweet! I remember when you decided to bring this tune out of cold storage & I'm so glad you did! It's where it belongs now - for everyone to enjoy! I do agree with Zsolt too...it's so refreshing not to see 'get-ups' or super special effects, but just simple, music done well & with care. It wins every time!

  • @Gingerjake2 Thank you Ginger. My main objective of this session was to get this song redone and I'm really happy with how it turned out. We did two takes of this to start the session and then we came back and did this take after we had done a few other songs.. All told we got 5 keepers in a two hour session and the only rehearsal was if we did more than one take.

  • Sooo beautiful! I love those harmonies!

  • @Michinil Thank you Michelle!
