When I was in STX I worked with a research team aiding leatherback sea turtles - this little hatchling we kept at the hotel for a day to save from the daytime predators to release later that night
In case you didn't notice, it's daylight out so obviously they cannot see the light of the moon. We were given these hatchlings by an islander when he found them struggling and confused on the beach in the morning, being preyed upon by gulls and the like. We waited to release them that night because a.) the light of the moon helped them orient themselves and b) they are harder to see at night for the fish waiting to eat them. I was on a research team, we know about the lights. Thanks though.

Leatherback turtles are endangered, and get confused when there are lights etc on shore.
they look for light reflection on the water to find their way to it. Next time help them get to the water so they can live! Thanks!
