Outlet - Making it Better

Outlet, an LGBTQQ Youth program in the SF Peninsula, works with local schools, educators, counselors, parent/guardians, and community organizations to make it better for LGBTQQ Youth. Outlet Steering Committee members and staff share their message.

I feel like this is a really complicated issue and I really appreciate all the work that Outlet does for queer youth and Outlet is working to make the right now better. But at the same time, I have some real problems with the "It Gets Better" campaign, one of them being that 'it gets better' sounds an awful lot like 'suck it up'. The feeling I get is that older, more secure and out queers are saying we got through this and so should you and the expectations that creates for queer youth.
