Allen's Test is an orthopedic maneuver used to help diagnose thoracic outlet syndrome and is considered positive if the radial pulse on the affected side diminishes. The verbal explanation for this test was taken from Clinical Skills Documentation Guide for Athletic Training by Amato et al.

  • the one you are saying is allens test for the wrist, and thats for vascular insufficiency..this allens test here is for thoracic outlet syndrome

  • This is not allens test. Allens test involves occluding both the radial and ulnar arteries. This IS allens maneuver. References are books by evans and cipriano.

  • Isn't this allen's maneuver not allen's test

  • This is not the Allen's test.

  • cross checked and verified that this is the allen test as two references confirm.

p.s. love doctor who flexed his md around , keep this in mind i have had symtoms for almost three years and two surgeries and almost two years of pt not one of the 6 people who called themselves doctors ever performed this test on me. i had my rn wife perform it on me and it was positive. and yes in the adson test the arm is down as yes i was positive for that one as well.

  • @fahedbarakat

This is Allen's Test because if it was Adson's test, the arm will be DOWN AND ABDUCTED 30 DEGREES, Holding their breath and they would be looking TOWARDS the arm being held. Adson's test for subclavian artery occlusion if the pulse diminshes

  • This is Adson's test not allen's test

Allen's test is used to confirm alternate perfusion of the hand from the ulnar nerve if the radius was to be damaged during an arterial blood gas

  • In my humble opinion. The allens test specifically is used to see whether or not an individual is suited for an ABG test.

Thats just the doctor in me coming out

  • Seriously? You actually posted a video that was shot sideways and want to be taken seriously in your advice?

  • Turning my neck to watch this - cured the problem
