I just thought of something......people who want to know the closest thing to a typical American accent........Bill O'Riley on FOX news.......he has a pretty neutral accent

@curiousf1 i do not think there is a "typical American accent"......the closest thing would be the way our network news casters talk on television. You really cannot have an American Regional Accent and land a big network TV job. The USA is so ethnically diverse that there are many very different sounding accents. For example....I live in the North East USA near Boston. My accent is so different from someone living down south in Alabama

I'm English, but living in France and being subject to stereotyping has turned me to hate what is typical of British people. I therefore intend to learn and adopt the American accent and learn the culture. So when some French guy says ' ah, you're English, do you like football? do you drink tea? Do you use a red London bus? I'll respond: I like baseball, I drink Bud and I use a greyhound. So fuck off!

leobaba7, That is not true! I've been in America for almost 15 yrs now and every one I have met sounds like that. And i've been to 7 US states.
