Check out Varosha in Cyprus. Also abandoned in 1974. A tourist town which flourished, but after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, the locals abandoned all houses and hotels, so it remains a ghost town.
Pripyat is the most impressive one since both Gunkanjima and Varosha are small compared to the medium sized city of Pripyat, which was only founded 16 years before it was evacuated in 1986.
