@TheShadowPX thanks for explanation!

@TheShadowPX What altitude must I have, when activating auto-approach? My problem is, that my plane doesn't descend after applying that button. It only takes position heading to the runway.

@Ram256PL Sure, it works in basically the same way. You tune the NAV frequencies and it is pretty much done.

@TheShadowPX could you tell me, how to autoland with Cessna 172 ?

It's not an Auto-Land, it's a ILS Landing. Autoland lands the plane automatically, without any manual steps, except setup. Please, change title.

@DevelopeRodessa I already explained this a year ago or so. I know that it is an ILS approach and not a autoland. But i chose to write autoland in the title because people searching for this kind of tutorial often don't know it is actually called ILS. And therefore putting "ILS" instead of "autoland" would render the video useless because the right audience will not find it.

@TheShadowPX Agreed. Btw, why to setup a course? With it setted to 340 (by default) it lands perfectly. Guess, the CRS switch is made for some old-school navigation, no?

@DevelopeRodessa Well, in default planes there is actually no need for it as you say. Though in real world and in complex addons the "course" knob is essential for ILS landing.

@andy4b767, you can actually perform an autoland in a default plane, when you're 50 feet above, turn off approach hold and turn on altitude hold, set altitude to 0000 and vertical speed to -100Fpm, during the approach set autobrakes and arm the spoilers then, all you have to do on touchdown is hold F2 for reverse thrust.

@MGCMuseGuitarCovers But for you to be able to do that you either have to be very(!) quick or pause the sim. :)
