He is a household name in the media industry, a veteran broadcaster and radio producer whose prowess has inspired many. However, his life and career has taken another direction. In 1999, he was diagnosed with kidney failure occasioned by diabetes that saw him undergo a kidney transplant. Ten years later in 2009, while on a routine check up in a hospital in India, Nzau Kalulu injured his toe. That was the beginning of his horrendous experience in theatre that subsequently changed his entire life. After undergoing ten amputations on his lower limbs within nine months, he eventually lost his legs. But amid all these tribulations, Nzau says he takes it in stride and won't give up in life. And as Duncan Khaemba reports, his is indeed a story of boundless optimism and resilience.
