Militainment, Inc. offers a fascinating, disturbing, and timely glimpse into the militarization of American popular culture, examining how U.S. news coverage has come to resemble Hollywood film, video games, and "reality television" in its glamorization of war. Mobilizing an astonishing range of media examples - from news anchors' idolatry of military machinery to the impact of government propaganda on war reporting - the film asks: How has war taken its place in the culture as an entertainment spectacle? And how does presenting war as entertainment affect the ability of citizens to evaluate the necessity and real human costs of military action? The film is broken down into nine sections, each between 10 and 20 minutes in length, allowing for in-depth classroom analysis of individual elements of this wide-ranging phenomenon.

Written, produced & narrated by Roger Stahl.
Based on his forthcoming book by the same title.

Roger Stahl is Assistant Professor of Speech Communication at the University of Georgia. His work has appeared in publications such as Rhetoric and Public Affairs, Encyclopedia of Political Communication, and Critical Studies in Media Communication.

  • It's sick.

But the odd time I actually talk about politics with my friends, i'm usually dubbed a conspiricy theorist by them.

I plan on buy both the movie and the book the moment they are available. I think it's extremely important that people realise what's going on in our own nation-- even if it means it's a minority of the citizes.

  • Do you really think it is funny? The elites are attempting to brainwash kids from early on so kids will want to fight and get blown apart on behalf of he Rockefellers, Duponts, Scaifes, Mellons, Morgans, Browns, Rothschilds and others who steal the world's resources at your expense. And they are effective - this is not funny. Educate yourself, please.

  • Same psylological warfare is used on little girls, insted of playing with baby dolls, like they have played hundreds of years witch develops their maternal insticts, they are given barbie dolls, anorectic beauty princesses that will make them obsessed with their own body and make them self-centered egoists. And notice that barbies are anatomically constructed that if in real life, they are incabable of giving even birth to children.

That is also part of elite's depopulation agenda.

  • Militarism does become an addiction. Sad really.

Stupidity is the norm in the media. It comes in so many flavors some people are dazed.

  • Shooting people for the deliberate purpose of killing them for fun is easier to understand than diplomacy, problem-solving, real friendship and critical thinking.

Consider what a kid would miss out on if he/she were to mostly spend their childhood killing people on computer games.

But then few kids do only that, so society is not doing so bad after all despite the bombardment of such messages over the Mass media.

  • Every child should have war toys in order to understand why war is part of humanity and bravery and valor are as much as important as conservation and diplomacy in peace. So love your bacon and vote for Jeb Bush.

  • eeer I actually like war toys . . . .I'm crazy about tanks, fighter planes, submarines and the likes I just can't help to marvel at mankind technology. It doesn't mean I like war. For the same reason I like sport car and sport bike too. These machines are beautiful for the same reason that all boy would love seeing a fighter jet.

  • During my younger years, I did play with military-related toys during the first year of the current war, but it didn't have anything to do with seeing it on the news since I never ever watched the news. It was mainly inspired by the video game Metal Gear Solid, which has a philosophical anti-war undercurrent but still featured plenty of action. Perhaps that's why I never supported the war, one other reason being liberal parents who reminded me that the real war wasn't good, and I always knew it.

  • this is not brain washing this is just a bunch of poeple pretending to act smart to feel better about themselves. for those who say war is bad I say revlolutionary war. sure people die but hey thats a risk

  • Educate yourself, please : war is a fact of Human life since millions of years.

  • Great video. I'll use it for an oral presentation about the documentary Weapons of Mass Deception. Thank You.

  • word. i grew up playing america's army and the like, but i'm anti-war.
