One of Stain's Interesting Junk vids, this is the EAR battery record player from 1960s 70s. It is working entirely from batteries, as intended: 6 C type cells. The record is Alternative TV/Hear and Now. John kindly re-built the original amplifier: having 4 transistors: OC44 OC71 OC72 x 2. Unfortunately, the PCB germanium amplifier that was originally fitted into these units had a tendancy to be unreliable. The one fitted is a modern unit consisting of a LM386 audio amp chip, with a BC549C (or similar) buffer stage to present a high impedance load to the Xtal PU cartridge. Also replaced is the idler wheel, the original having perished through old age. There is more information on www.hoofbags.me.uk/interesting junk
