After installing Skyrim, by default it chooses to use your shared Graphics processor. This video is an extension on the last, but tailored specifically to people running Skyrim with Nvidia Optimus Technology.

My Setup:
Asus N55sf

i7-2670QM 2.2Ghz
Windows 7 64bit
6GB Gddr3 RAM
Nvidia Geforce GT 555M

  • It's not working for me, it's still showing the intel HD option for me :/

  • @CptnPinguin You tried my other video dude? (:

Can't link it here, but it's on my channel!

  • @JaskenFtw Tried it out but when I search in Skyrimprefs I can't find any graphicscard to change :/

  • @CptnPinguin Ok, when in the Skyrimprefs document, the line looks something like:

    * sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M " * (this is mine as example)

Before the change, if you are still running on integrated graphics then it would say "intel HD" or something similar. Try searching for "sD3DDevice" with the Ctrl+F function when in the document and see what comes up?

  • Anyone know what i should do if my skyrim are minimized?

  • @Zobra0115 Uncheck "Windowed mode" in your Skyrim Options from the launcher. :P

Hi. I was looking through the prefs and saw that line, entered it into google wondering if I could enable SLI there (I'm having sli issues now, they started after I tried a shader mod, and wont correct when i delete the mod). Do you know if SLI can be edited in the

    SkyrimPrefs.ini?

  • Thank you so much worked perfectly! That was so annoying up until i found this video. I was getting >10fps with gtx 580m Now over 50 with everything maxed!!!

  • @JaskenFtw Ive been trying to find the line for while, cant find it ANYWHERE! has this changed since you posted?

  • Thank you really much :) You made my day, it really worked and everything is fine now, thanks again !

  • @JaskenFtw For some reason it doesn't find anything when I search for "sD3DDevice". The strange thing is that I can play on high settings without much problems, I just don't get why it keeps showing the Intel HD graphics card. Thanks for trying to help me anyways :P

  • Thanks! Worked great for me :)
