Why I think it is justified for the officer to shoot the man?

  • Nah, its ok. You are saying what you say because you believe that the officer could have settled it without shooting the guy. I understand your concerns.

However, I believe what the officer has done is justified. My view is too long to be posted here as a comment. You can read my views at my blog if you want.

  • confirm de police kena question many many..after dat, followed by counselling..well, this is singapore wat..

  • Well, it's all for the greater good. Since what he did was what was taught in the Police Academy, I believe they will praise him for excercising his duties well instead of making him feel like a criminal just because there are many follow ups needed after that. ;)

  • aren't police officers trained to disarm

  • Trained to disarm? I think the officer had disarmed the fella by shooting him down. =x He stabbed one guy before that and charged the officer at the station.

What the officer did was right to me. I agree with FharidAli. :)

  • trained to give warning shots?? shots to the limbs?? Based on the incident location and SOP, i believe a warning shot is not justified...

And shots to the limbs??? Were police officers trained to do that?? I doubt so. What I believe is that POLICE officers SHOOT to IMMOBILISE the assailant or subject...

Therefore... the Ability, Oppurtunity & Jeopardy must be presence at that point of time. Without it, the officer is not justified to open fire. ..

  • If an officer targetted the non-vital areas & the shot ends up hitting the vital point, I believe the officer carried out his duty well and actually shoots to IMMOBILISE the subject & not to "KILL" the subject as this involved the LIFE of a PERSON. It takes up a lot of courage to pull off the trigger. Physically & Mentally....

I really appreaciate if we cud reflect & think if that "Old Man" were our loved ones. Our father. Our uncle. Our grandfather. Our brother. What will our feelings be......

  • they should shoot him in the balls lololol

  • its the CI (Cadet Inspector)

  • to zomgbbqwth:in singapore..there is no such thing as giving a warning shot kae..this is not the US..

  • anyway they are covered by the law to execercise such powers. Life in danger, to public and themselves, warnings were given. the officer did no wrong =)

  • If i am th officer in danger, i could have drawn out my t-baton 1st, than to draw the revolver, seriously. I guess the extendable PR t-baton is long and good enough to defence against a man with a knife.
