advanced techniques for projection mapping onto architecture - I developed this method myself.

please note - since making this clip I have found that camera angle of view is only critical with very wide and very narrow angles. so you only need to be accurate in selecting a camera lens if you are doing very short or long throw projections - what is important is that the camera lens is in exactly the same position as the projector lens

  • Once i have created the mask and projected the image back through the projector, how would i get each of the buttons and dials to light up a different color and not all the same video footage?

  • @ATGxQuadPimp either, use different video for each button, or use one video with lots of different coloured areas .. you could globally change these using a filter or the inbuilt color correction in M8

  • thanks for getting back. I take it you mean that when I take the picture I need to make sure I've 'cropped' the image size of the camera to the size of the projected screen......as near as possible?

  • @fiftynorth

    no not at all.

use a focal length that has the same throw ratio/lens angle as the projector lens.

this technique only works if you use the same lens angle on both projector and camera.

  • I wish i could do stuff like that. Wish i had the imagination anymore.

When can we expect to see this applied to common concerts and festivals?

there was a major mapping installation at glastonbury this year!

  • @deepvisual I'm using Resolume on a PC,but i assume it's similar in purpose to M8,i just can't figure out how to add a different video to each map. It's probably so simple, the penny just hasn't dropped yet. Thanks for your response.

  • Awesome. Thanks for the info. :)

  • this stuff is the way of video art future... i love it!

  • @deepvisual Nice!

  • @fiftynorth

maybe. try keep the zoom in the relevant area, so the lens ratios are the same
