  • Does it matter how long after you work out to take protein?

  • YES! 45 minutes optimize!

max window is like 90 minutes.

  • As soon as I'm done with my workout, I wash my hands thoroughly and then open up a can of salmon. I do a half-hour cardio after an hour workout. Should I eat the salmon between the weight lifting and the cardio?

  • i mean it probably wont kill you..but id wait until after the cardio.

  • Why would you take fats and complex carbs after a workout?? That goes against all convetional bodybuilding facts. You need immediate protein delivery to the muscles, note whey and simple carbs to drive the protein to the muscles and restore glycogen levels. Taking in a complex carb like oatmeal, and a fat like peanut butter, will not only resist the insulin spike, but fiber diminishes the absorbtion of protein. Complex with protein and healthy fats before workout, protein and simple after

  • Bad advice if you're trying to build muscle. Have a gatorade or something and a whey shake made with water immediately after. An hour or two later, have a solid meal with fat, protein and carbs.

  • @kstfo mmmm no dude, if you have a shake with water all your doing is maintaining muscles, not gaining or building. your just keeping that toned look. you need sugar and carbs after your workout.

    immediately

  • No, you do want fats, because your body can use the protein more efficiently that way. Just look at nature. The highest quality proteins are found in animals, more specifically, red meat, and red meat has fat in it. When you take in a protein powder, such as an isolate or one with no fat in it, your body uses it in about an hour, and then you go into a catabolic stage. The longer it takes the protein to break down, the longer you are in an anabolic stage.

  • STAY AWAY FROM FATS before and after working out , HELLO any body there ,,,

  • IMO no time is a good time for gatorade. Loaded with sugar, HFCS and food colorings. The only thing i drink aside from jayrobb protein and raw milk is WATER. Throw some whey in with milk and blueberries, banana even some nuts and blend it all up. That should hold you over post workout for about 2-3 hours.

  • BAD ADVICE!! u dnt want fats after u workout!! that slows down the absorption of the protein and carbs which u definitely dnt want!!

  • he has "sound" advice, I don't care what degree anyone else has,,, this KID has it going on! I am going to start his plan tomorrow, if I knew where he lived I'd make an apt to go see him! been on every diet there is, this is a way of life that is HEALTHY! his Parents must be proud he knows so much! U don't have to have a degree, you either "get it or you don't" Dr Phil and he "gets it"

  • all you people are dum listen to this guy he noes more then this person in the video, you want to drink your protein shake or w.e you like right after dont wait or this defeats the purpose

  • NOPE. Immediately is best, in a catabolic state why anyone would ever wait 45 minutes to eat protein and promote a positive nitrogen balance is beyond me. But than again Im a bodybuilder and you obviously are not. Im also a sports nutritionist with 2 degrees and a diploma in this field but hey wait 45min all you want lol.

  • ABSOLUTELY UNTRUE. Show me ONE scientific study that proves fibre diminishes absorption of protein, considering they are absorbed and assimilated in different parts of the digestive tract. Also, while you're at it show me one more peice of evidence that shows spiking insulin after a workout provides greater repair or growth of muscle tissue compared to a lower GI carb source.
