February 2010. I get a lot of messages from people who want to make the move to San Francisco, and want to know a little more about it, like cost of living, apartments, medical marijuana cards, transportation, the queer community, etc.

P.S.- this video is not a direct response to Joshua; I just posted it because it was a good video with relevant questions about moving to SF.

if you are moving to the tenderloin or western addition i might be worried, but other than that you should be fine.

@charlesasher really? thanks dude. youre the first person who has said that to me. everyone i know that lives there says otherwise.

but you guys in SF need to get over the LA comparisson. i lived in LA for 15 years. there is WAY less crime in LA. example....

LA = 17 miliion people - has a crime rate that is 39% above the national average.

SF = 800 K people - has a crime rate that is 375% above the national average.

these are stats put out by local PDs and states.

LA is actually quite a safe.

@TRaddcliff you also have to take into consideration that LA is a sprawling megatropolis, while SF is only 7 x 7 miles, 49 square miles. of course the crime rate is "higher"- the population is a lot more concentrated.

I hated living in LA and def felt safer in SF, but to each his own.

I enjoyed this,like the music and vibe.I used to live in N.Ca in Fort Bragg,and used to vist SF,and I love it, I do wish to move there someday,when I have enough money. I wish you all my best.

USA. It is not over crowded and is definitely not dirty at all, except maybe china town.

I don't think it's hard to find a job... there are jobs everywhere.... but I would rather be poor here than anywhere. i like that

@TRaddcliff Certain places in LA are the nicest places in the world. Other places in LA are the poorest and most dangerous. It just depends where you live in SF.

I live in San Diego and its WAAYYYY better ;)

SF is a hella chill city. People are crazy, weird, interesting, peaceful, intellectual, drugged out and artistic. The tenderloin, bayview and the mission are dangerous only if you walk around flashing your wallet or showing of your expensive wear. You have to be street smart, if you can be friendly and get along with different types of people then SF is wonderland. Its expensive but there is Chinatown/Mission for cheap things, and the Sunset/Ingleside/Oceanview for cheap affordable living. =)

i have been to both la and sf ,la was a shit hole in many ways, cool in others, but sf WAS the shit! air quality, and ppl were amazing!!
