my dad and horse were the third ones to go in to the pile my dad got lots of broken bone but in driving again

All horses and drivers we're okay. There were some minor driver injuries, and all horses came back strong the next year.

Were the horses and drivers ok? especially the horse that didn't get back up... is it ok?

Yes they all drove again. The driver on the horse from post 7 horse dislocated his shoulder but drove again the following year.

That was my grandfather's horse that got run over, remarkably she came out with just some deep cuts. She got loose and rac around the track once until she slowed down on her own and we got her. She raced the year after and is ready to race again this year!

these accidents are always scary because even the greatest and fastest instincts really dont help.

no that is not funny! I've seena crash where a race horse and it's jocky get hit with a loose horse going in the opposite direction. the 2 horses die and so did the rider.

Thats horrific, I've worked with a horse who was in a very similar crash. It was a little funny how the 2 other horses just got up and started going off in another direction.
