hydro or better aeroponics with fish tanks ( as providers for the nutrition and the plants as a flter for the fish water a closed eko system ) , is not better or not it is the ultimate solution for urban vegetable supply and fish , in aereas where you usualy can t grow and need to buy it at the store , think about that such a system even if it only has to feed 3 heads it is very cheap and provides you with all your vegies and the fish you decide to let grow in the tank.

In the early years of Hydroponics I suppose some big producers used some "chemicals". If you want real, true life Organic Hydroponic - then look at the closed loop system of Aquaponics. Fish get feed, poop, water pumped to plants. Bacteria break down ammonia to nitrogen which feed the plants and clean water is returned to the fish. Plant eating fish like Tilapia are feed duckweed so no chemicals are needed in the entire food chain if you have the right ratio of fish to plants.

I recommend using Mighty Crobes from sierra chemical company (. com). This stuff helps out your roots a ton. I use it for all my indoor crops and especially cuttings. Great inoculant and lasts up to a year.

If you seriously just asked that question please give me your address so that I can fly a microlight into it. Dumbass.

Hydroponic solutions are made out of bat shit and seaweed it's no less organic than the cow, pig and chicken shit they use in organic farms. Hydroponics don't use pesticides as much as organic outside plants raised in chicken poop. Hydroponic plants are heartier and healthier every study ever done has come to this conclusion.

@greymobvmp sorry you took personal offense to my comment, but I was just repeating what the guy said. He said chemicals, not active culture. You probably support hydroponics and you may already grow hydroponically, didn't mean to offend your livelyhood. But seriously, we should reconsider, and at least test the side effects of growing things outside of their intended nature.

@strid3r34 dip shit , when you grow geoponicly (soil) you are growing in a rotting mix of active culture, like a nasty quicksand stew thats decomposing, if you knew anything really about growing shitt then you would see that your stament make you look like an asshole who couldnt keep it in a second longer! study up bro, then come back here and delete that bullsharck you said...aloha oi

besides why are you waiting for the USDA to certify organic? just go visit the farm and ask questions to the farmer.
Most hydroponicly grown crops do not need pesticides because they can be grown indoors. There are lots of hydroponic crops have all the saftey, extra nutrition, great taste, and environmental benefits of organic food, but many hydroponic growers can't get certification because some states require certified organic crops to use soil. Bullshit, if you ask me.

@strid3r34 "we should reconsider, and at least test the side effects of growing things outside of their intended nature"
Plants are not outside of their nature if they eat food. the plant decides if it wants to eat the hydroponic food. there have been tests done. With soil you have mercury cadmium and other heavy elements in your food. not only is hydroponic food better for you it's better for the plant.
