@laser5890 It's quite the opposite of dumbass and takes quite a bit of knowledge to even produce one with a decent muzzle velocity. Secondly they aren't really guns, they are electromagnetic pulse accelerators.  Guns rely on the ammunition to carry the energy, such as gunpowder in bullets. Coilguns rely on an external source of energy, and hence the ammunition can be re-used over and over.
